Forming a New Government in Germany –
Perspectives of the Hungarian-German Relations
Knut Abraham won another mandate for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the recent German parliamentary elections. Before his political career, he worked for decades at the German Federal Foreign Office, most recently as charge d’affaires at the German Embassy in Warsaw until 2020. Accordingly, he has great influence on the formulation of his party’s foreign policy stance. At the same time, Knut Abraham was a direct colleague of Otto von Habsburg from 1987 to 1996, so he has been following the Central and Eastern European processes for a long time and is committed to promoting Hungarian-German relations. Gergely Gulyás, as Minister leading the Prime Minister’s Office, is an important actor of our bilateral relations, so their conversation on the formation of the government in Germany and the perspectives of Hungarian-German relations promises an interesting exchange of views.
