In preparation for the 100th anniversary of the death of Otto von Habsburg’s father, Charles I, the last Austrian Emperor and King of Hungary (as Charles IV), three of our Foundation’s colleagues, Szilveszter Dékány, Bence Kocsev and Gergely István Szűts, conducted a short research in the public collections of Vienna.
The Austrian private channel Servus TV visited our Foundation on 14 February 2022. The forthcoming television programme will commemorate Charles I, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary (as Charles IV), who died 100 years ago on the island of Madeira.
In 1923 Empress Zita presented a Madeiran family with the royal children’s trousseau that included the white baptismal gown and headband that had been worn by the Emperor and her seven children at their christenings.
