We present previously unseen photographs from November 1956 from our collection. These amateur photos, taken in downtown Budapest, depict the days of the revolution from a unique perspective.

On 1956 – from twelve years later

Fifty-five years ago, in 1968, the streets of Prague were witnessing a similar scene to that of Budapest in the autumn of 1956. Otto von Habsburg followed the events in Czechoslovakia as closely as he had followed the revolution in Hungary twelve years before. The former heir to the throne, like other analysts, made a comparison between the two events early on.
