The visiting party was led by Hiroyuki Shimatani, Executive Director, and included Kuniko Matsui, Curator, and Hiroki Matsuoka, Head of Department. The guests were received by Gergely Prőhle and Bence Kocsev, who presented the history and activities of the Foundation, as well as programmes implemented in Japan in recent years.
During the discussion, they also addressed in detail the connections between Otto von Habsburg and Japan, as well as his relationship with the Imperial Family, drawing on documents, photographs and artefacts preserved in the Foundation’s collection.
The meeting clearly demonstrated the strong interest in the island nation towards the history of the Foundation’s namesake and the Imperial House, while also providing an excellent opportunity to explore further possibilities for future cooperation between the Foundation and institutions in the Far East.
