The Otto von Habsburg Foundation and the University of Public Service commemorated the 30th anniversary of the treaty establishing the European Union with a joint conference entitled “From the Pan-European Idea to the Maastricht Treaty”.
The name of Otto von Habsburg was associated with the Hotel Gellért as early as the mid-1920s through the so-called “Otto dinners”, and after the change of regime, a suite was named after him as he was a frequent guest.
The twenty-year period during which Otto von Habsburg was a Member of the European Parliament, starting in 1979, was an important stage in his political career. During a visit to the Historical Archives of the European Union, we had the opportunity to look at the collection and discuss possibilities for inter-institutional cooperation.
