In 2022, to mark the centenary of the death of Charles IV (I), the Regional Archives and Public Library of Madeira, in collaboration with the Otto von Habsburg Foundation, created an exhibition of documents from the collections of both institutions to commemorate the time of the royal family in Madeira and their relationship with the inhabitants of the island.
In the framework of a cooperation agreement with the State Secretariat for Culture in Madeira, our Foundation is presenting the exhibition in Hungary, with additional items from its own collection and more relevant information for the Hungarian public.
The exhibition has been on display at the Royal Palace of Gödöllő for the last few months, and is now moving to the Almásy Castle Visitor Centre in Gyula. The temporary exhibition, which will be housed in the chapel of the castle, will be opened by Gergely Prőhle, Director of the Otto von Habsburg Foundation, on 15 April 2023 (Saturday) at 10.30 a.m. Welcome speeches will be given by Dr. József Kovács, Member of Parliament and Dr. Ernő Görgényi, Mayor of Gyula.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at the opening!
The exhibition can be visited until 29 May 2023, during the opening hours of the Almásy Castle, with castle entrance tickets. More information is available on the website of the Almásy Castle Visitor Centre.
