On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the death of its namesake, the Otto von Habsburg Foundation organised a conference in Pannonhalma on 4 July 2021, which was attended by Husein Kavazović, the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Dževada Šuško, the Head of International Cooperation. The discussions at that time and the developments concerning the situation and the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina prompted us to try to get a more accurate picture of the internal situation in the country and the challenges facing the Muslim community. Given that Dževada Šuško’s studies in Western Europe and her extensive network of contacts provide her with a comprehensive knowledge of the concepts concerning her country, her two presentations in Budapest may provide interesting insights at a time when there is much talk about the EU integration of the Western Balkans and the geopolitical and security challenges affecting the region.
