The life and heritage of Otto von Habsburg – commemoration in Brussels, in the European Parliament

The Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Otto von Habsburg Foundation are organising a joint event in the European Parliament to discover the life and heritage of Otto von Habsburg at the occasion of the opening ceremony of the exhibition: “110 Years Otto von Habsburg – Life and Heritage”.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Otto von Habsburg Foundation have the pleasure of inviting you to discover the life and heritage of Otto von Habsburg at the occasion of the opening ceremony of the exhibition:

“I thank God that I am a member of the European Parliament”

Otto von Habsburg was born 110 years ago – Life and Heritage

Date: 8 November 2022 (Tuesday) 18.00
Venue: Brussels, European Parliament, Altiero Spinelli Building, 3rd floor, area D

As one of the leading figures of EU integration, Otto von Habsburg spent 20 years (1979-1999) in the European Parliament as one of its most prominent members. He upheld the European ideal based on the diversity of European nations and a common Christian civilization, associated with the names of Konrad Adenauer, Robert Schuman and Alcide de Gasperi. As President of the Paneuropean Union, he supported the states of Central Europe and advocated for their place in the European Union. Today, 110 years after his birth, von Habsburg’s vision of an enlarged Europe seems more relevant than ever. The Otto von Habsburg Foundation Budapest has therefore set itself the goal to preserve Otto von Habsburg’s intellectual and material legacy and to make it accessible to future generations.

We hereby have the great pleasure of inviting you to discover the life and heritage of Otto von Habsburg in an exhibition consisting of ten panels which document relevant stages of his life.

We look forward to discussing the importance of Otto von Habsburg’s work for the European unification process and its future prospects with you and our distinguished speakers.
