Students from the Institute of History of Pázmány Péter Catholic University visited the Otto von Habsburg Foundation on 29 September.
Gergely Fejérdy, our Foundation’s deputy scientific director, welcomed them, presented the work in the collection, and briefly described the life of Otto von Habsburg with the help of some original documents.
The visit brought the students closer to the former heir to the throne. It gave them a sense of the extensive network of contacts and the historical context in which Otto lived and worked and made them aware of the importance of the intellectual heritage of our namesake.
The twenty-year period during which Otto von Habsburg was a Member of the European Parliament, starting in 1979, was an important stage in his political career. During a visit to the Historical Archives of the European Union, we had the opportunity to look at the collection and discuss possibilities for inter-institutional cooperation.
Patrick J. Deneen, Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame was the guest speaker at the conference entitled Why liberalism prospered and failed on 15 November, 2019 organized by the Otto von Habsburg Foundation, the Pázmány Péter Catholic University and Libri Hungary Book Publishing Ltd.
