On 13 December 2023, the Hungarian National Museum opened a magnificent and unique exhibition entitled “Hungarian Bride”, in which our Foundation participated as a cooperating partner.

On 13 December 2023, the Hungarian National Museum opened a magnificent and unique exhibition entitled “Hungarian Bride”, in which our Foundation participated as a cooperating partner.

From our collection, the wedding gift list of Otto von Habsburg and Regina Saxe-Meiningen from 1951 and a photograph of the wedding are included, and a digital portrait of Queen Zita as a bride has been loaned to the museum as well. Our colleague Beáta Vitos-Merza, archivist and museologist, shares the story of Regina and Zita in the exhibition guide.

The “Hungarian Bride” will be on display at the Hungarian National Museum from 14 December to 25 August 2024.

On the lands of the Dukes of Lorraine

On 13 October 2023, at the University in Nancy, Gergely Fejérdy, Deputy Scientific Director of our Foundation, gave a lecture on Otto von Habsburg’s relations to Lorraine and his commitment to Europe. Georg von Habsburg, Ambassador of Hungary in France, was also present at the event. Our Life and Heritage exhibition was opened on the same day at the Sciences Po University in Nancy. The following day, the Hungarian delegation attended the traditional commemorative mass of the House of Lorraine at the Church of the Cordeliers, where Regina von Saxe-Meiningen and Otto von Habsburg exchanged their wedding vows in 1951.

111 years ago, on 21 October 1911, Zita of Bourbon-Parma and Charles of Habsburg-Lothringen were married in the Schwarzau Castle in Lower Austria.
