Our foundation commemorated the birthday of our namesake with lectures and a gala dinner on November 20, 2021. The event took place in the Pesti Vigadó, exactly 90 years after the first so-called “Otto Dinner” was organized there.
In 2020 we had to celebrate Otto von Habsburg’s 108th birthday in an unusual way due to the epidemic. Through the technical possibilities of the 21st century, we could still think together online talking about the legacy of our Foundation’s namesake and Europe.
Director Gergely Prohle and Georg von Habsburg Member of the Board of the Foundation introduced the work of the Foundation on 15 September in Vienna. The event – with the contribution of the Collegium Hungaricum Wien – was held in the building of the Embassy of Hungary in Vienna.
On 22 November a special commemorative event was organised by the Foundation in the Hungarian National Museum to mark the 107th anniversary of his birth. The guest speaker was Wolfgang Schüssel, former Austrian Chancellor, who gave his keynote address following a speech by Gergely Gulyás, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office.
