Online conference – “Otto von Habsburg and our vision for Europe”

In 2020 we had to celebrate Otto von Habsburg’s 108th birthday in an unusual way due to the epidemic. Through the technical possibilities of the 21st century, we could still think together online talking about the legacy of our Foundation’s namesake and Europe.

In 2019, the Otto von Habsburg Foundation revived the tradition of commemorating the birthday of the former Crown Prince. Last year, Wolfgang Schüssel, former Austrian Chancellor, honoured us by sharing his thoughts on the future of our continent, taking into account the legacy of Otto von Habsburg. This year, to our great pleasure, Alain Lamassoure, Member of the European Parliament for France, the former French Minister for European Affairs, accepted our request. János Martonyi, former Hungarian Foreign Minister and a friend of our Foundation, had a conversation with our guest of honour. The discussion provided an extraordinary intellectual experience and a theoretical direction for contemporary European construction. The event was moderated by journalist Bálint Ablonczy.

We kindly recommend to watch the audio and video material of the conference held in Hungarian and French.
