The veteran Christian Democratic politician and his wife were acquainted with the processing and digitisation work in our collection, and he was shown letters from leading German Christian Democratic politicians in our archives. At the same time, he was also very interested in the thematic events we are planning in order to preserve and promote the intellectual heritage of Otto von Habsburg. His interest is also motivated by the fact that since autumn 2021 he has been the Chairman of the Helmut Kohl Foundation (Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Kohl-Stiftung) Board of Trustees, established by the German Parliament. We agreed that in the future we would consult on our programmes, in particular on events on the future of Europe and the prospects for Christian Democratic politics.
